Vegetarianism or veganism was considered a fad or a trend for some time.
Modern medicine has allowed for those that have allergies or intolerances to manage those symptoms by choosing a healthier, more selective diet and often veganism is an answer that provides a much better standard of living for those that choose it.
Many people choose the vegan/vegetarian route because they disagree with the practice of eating animal flesh, either way, individuals should be free to choose a path that they are comfortable with and which gives them satisfaction and happiness.

The cuisine at the Gate might be considered Indo-Iraqi Jewish according to the Adrian and Michael Daniel who took inspiration from their grandmothers blended Indian and Arabic influence on traditional Jewish food. Sunday roast is not often considered to be a meat-free affair but the Root vegetables & goat’s cheese wellington wouldn’t be out of place on any table in the country. Sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream completes the feast.

Ben Asamani is the poster boy for vegan food and is truly passionate about the benefits of vegan cookery. This West London restaurant is 100% vegan, attracting diners for being such a London rarity. Pick of the menu is in-house special stir-fry with either organic brown basmati rice or organic wheat-free noodles as a main and rich, decadent desserts include apple crumble.

This Soho vegetarian eaterie comes from humble beginnings and has no airs and graces. Dishes include Sri Lankan sweet potato and green bean curry with roasted lime cashews, pea basmati rice and coconut tomato sambal but the real crowd pleasers are the tofu burgers. Prices are reasonable and customers will leave with full bellies.

Modern restaurant serving gourmet vegetarian dishes in an Art Deco-inspired dining room. The team at Vanilla Black are passionate about redefining contemporary non-meat cuisine by experimenting with original flavour combinations and modern techniques. Innovative dishes include Smoked Egg, Black Sesame and Fried Gram Flour with Peppercorn Crisp and Radish with desserts as exciting as Kahlùa Cake with Coconut and Toasted Rice Mousse.

One of Europe’s finest and oldest gourmet vegetarian establishments manna is a 100% vegan restaurant. No meat doesn’t mean no flavour and standout dishes on the menu include the Caribbean platter and vice cream & cookie semi-freddo.
